NEW APPOINTMENTS.
Shortage of Justices of the Peace. WELLINGTON, November 30. There is reported to be a shortage of Justices of the Peace in certain districts in the Dominion, caused by | deaths or removals of persons holding the commission. As a consequence inconvenience sometimes is created in the completion of documents required to be attested before a Justice of the Peace. On the complaint being mentioned yesterday to the Minister of Justice, the lion J. G. Cobbe, it was ascertained that a list of nominations for some new appointments was being prepared at the present time to replace Justices who had died or had removed from districts where there were now either no persons holding office or only one or two not always accessible. The Minister hoped that the proposed appointments would be ready to submit to his Excellency towards the end of December or the beginning of January.
