TROTTING NOTES.

jfci i*i iiti & © 1*; !*i @3l Si life! g) g] @b @3 @g] ® ACCEPTANCES for the New Brighton Trotting Club’s summer meeting are due on December 4, at noon. * * * * Nominations for the trotting events to be decided at the Hororata Racing Club’s meeting will close this evening at eight o’clock. ABOUT CAVALCADE. R. Townlev has the five-year-old gelding Cavalcade engaged at Ashburton to-morrow. Cavalcade is a brother to Mac de Oro, and a half-brother to Bruce, 2.14 2-5. Cavalcade is owned by Mr N. A. M’Leod, owner of Girvan. Cavalcade raced at Timaru in October, where he shaped as if he would develop into a stake winner. WILD GUY. The pacing gelding, Wild Guy, has been off colour since he raced at the Addington carnival. Both his shoulders were swollen for a few days as if he had been stung by bees. He was geared up, and given half-pace work yesterday morning, and seems to have recovered from the indisposition. It is now doubtful if he will go to Auckland. * * * * Edgar Wallace has been knocking at the door recently, and he may bob up and effect a surprise shortly. He has received a good preparation for his engagements at Ashburton to-morrow. WORKED AS PACER. Billy Sundy was worked at the pacing gait on the grass course at New Brighton yesterday. Early in his career he wore the hdpples preparatory to being changed over to the trotting gait, at w ; hich he won three races last season. Billy Sundy is engaged in an unhoppled trotters race and in an open race at New Brighton next week. A work or two with the hopples on may sweeten him up again as a trotter. OVERDUE. Argolis was a member of the late W. J. Tomkinson’s stables last season, and the gelding had the benefit of several races. He competed at the last meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club, where he was prominent for a mile and a furlong in a mile and a quarter race. He is a five-year-old gelding by Nelson Derby from Maud Logan, and is now trained by his owner, Mr V. Leeming. He is engaged at Ashburton to-morrow. INEXPERIENCED. The trotter, Blue Blood, did not handle the grass course at New Brighton too well yesterday morning, but his mistakes can be attribute! to lack of experience on turf. He is a member of J. J. Kennerley’s stable, and has been in work some time at Aldington, where his efforts have been distinctly promising. Blue Blood is engaged at the New Brighton Trotting Club's meeting, and he acts like developing into a useful performer. FORM HORSES. Since the advent of the present handicapping system form has been the safest guide, and in connection with the Mayfield Handicap, to be decided at Ashburton to-morrow, Sage King stands out above his opponents. He was in the money on both days at Forburv, last week, where he registered 3min 24 l-ssec for a mile and a half. He is a reliable beginner and his showings have been those of a game horse. At Oamaru he was second to Iraq, and he won at Wellington, that was in October. He is on the limit of a 3min 39sec class to-morrow, and should have plenty of friends. WENT WELL. To see Jimmy de Oro pace a mile and a half in 3min 26 2-ssec outside the trestles on the grass course at New Brighton yesterday was a tonic to his friends. The gelding hit out as if he wanted to go, and he never put a foot wrong. Jimmy de Oro is now under the supervision of N. C. Price at New Brighton, and it would not be surpris ing to find the erratic gelding win races for Price, who has done exceptionally well in the past with horses who have gained a reputation for deep thinking NEW BRIGHTON TRACK. The grass course at New Brighton has never been in better order, and its condition is a credit to the caietaker, W. Stevenson. Yesterday, a large number of horses were given fast work on the grass, and the grounds were the scene of much activity among horses, horsemen and spectators. Mr A. J. Blastings had his coat off educating numerous novice pacers and trotters at beginning from a barrier. With patience, and a bag of carrots he succeeded in improving the manners of several horses. MATCH RACE. During the week-end Mr W T. Lowe expressed a wish to race Trampfast against Nell Volo and Worthy Queen, but the gelding will not be admitted to ; the contest. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club recognises that it is a match between Worthy Queen and Nell Volo, and it has decided to provide a stake in addition to thi sidewagers of £SOO put up by F. J. Smith. : owner of Nell Volo, and J. S. S taw, owner of Worthy Queen. The match will probably take place at its midsummer meeting at Addington, which is set down for January 19. TROTTING FIXTURES.
