MOTHER WILL APPEAL.
Fight for Girl Worth £5,000,000. NEW YORK, November 19. Mrs Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt, widow of the late Reginald Vanderbilt, will appeal against Judge Carew’s decision regarding the custory of her ten-year-old daughter, Gloria, who will inherit £5,000,000 when she comes of age. The Judge’s decision means that the child will be in the care of her aunt, Mrs Payne Whitney, who is an Episcopalian, for five days a week, and with her mother, a Catholic, for two days a week. The mother’s lawyer protested that the Judge’s compromise would result in hostility, antagonism and hate, and in poisoning Gloria’s mind against her mother. The struggle between the two women excited national interest, it being believed that it was a fight for control of the child’s inheritance.
