“HOLLYWOOD PARTY.”
Bright Musical Show at Majestic. I Full, unrestrained comedy characterises “ Hollywood Party,” a bright musical extravaganza now showing at j the Majestic Theatre. Laurel and Hardy i with Jimmy Durante make a powerful ; comedy team in themselves, but with j Polly Moran, Lupe Velez and a number j of other stars to assist them, the fun is never allowed to flag. Hundreds qf beautiful singing ballet girls provide excellent foils for the clowning of the principals. “Schnarzan the Lion Man * j (Durante) meets with more startling adventures than the famous Baron Munchausen could ever dream of. Lions j anc * other denizens of the jungle hold no terrors for him, but, unfortunately, his screen following begins to desert : him and in an endeavour to gain presj tige he gives a “ Hollywood Party.” I And what a party! The fun bej comes faster and faster until a totallv unexpected conclusion is reached. To , comment on the acting of the prin j cipals would be unnecessary. Their : reputations speak for themselves I Scenes taken at Melbourne and other places during the running of the Centenary air race make up one of the newsreels. A travelogue, “The Big Ditch of Panama,” a good comedy and other newsreels complete an excellent programme.
