Anton Koolman Retains His Title. Fast and clever wrestling was seen in the bout for the light-heavy-weight professional championship of New Zealand. which took place between Anton Koolman, of Estonia, and Joe Keatos, of Malta, at the Caledonian Ilall last evening. Koolman. who was the aggressor throughout, gained the verdict and retained his title, showing more speed and a greater variety of holds than his opponent, who is holder of the Australian light-heavy-weight championship. dhe bout was a fast and clever encounter. both wreatlerfc displaying very «i e .P ~°'v m^ nship - Keatos gained the first fall in the third round with a wellapplied arm bar, the Estonian submitting to escape serious punishment. KoolT^ an * up in the fourth round, and Keatos took a lot of punishment, being kept continually on the defensive against forward headlocks. the lying: splits. Took bars and a skilfully-applied wrists waH Rained cleverly in «*xth round. He secured a full on hls opponent’s legs, and pujled his body backwards, obtalnsomewhat the same effect as that o* the Boston crab. Koolman kept up the pressure in the seventh and eighth rounds. Once he dumped his man and lH led »J IJ V d to pin ht,n with a press, but the Maltese managed to hold out. and the falls were even at the end of the bout. Mr A. Craig refereed the bout.
