The Hon R. Moore. M.L.C.. arrived from Wellington this morning. Mr M. J. Gray (Wellington) is staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mr W. G. Cooper, chief postmaster at New Plymouth, has been transferred to the position of chief postmaster at Wanganui. Guests at the Royal Hotel include Messrs T. M’Cone (Oamaru), L. MacKinnon (Greendale) and S. Butsies (Parnassus). Guests at the New City Hotel include Messrs W. H. ®odge (Auckland), A. Webster and G. W. Stringer (Oamaru) and E. Olson and N. Jones 'Dunedin) . Messrs H. FI. Robinson, Sinclair Carruthers, S. J. Goulter (Wellington) and K. Glendinning (Palmerston North) are guests at the United Service Hotel. The Hon Philip Collier, Premier of Western Australia, arrived from Sydney by the Marama yesterday on a holiday visit to New Zealand. FJe is accompanied by' his private secretarv Mr R. Doig. Both are paying their first visit to the Dominion. Mr Arthur Fairburn, chief clerk in the Auckland office of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, who has retired after forty years’ service, was presented with a wallet by the combined Auckland office and refinerystaffs. The presentation was made by the manager, Mr A. H. Champion. Mr Fairburn joined the company' in 1894, and after being stationed for several years in Fiji was transferred back to the Auckland office. He is an old boy of Christ’s College, where he represented his school at cricket. Mr Fairburn has been prominent in Auckland sport. He represented Auckland at lacrosse, and in the days of district cricket played for both the Gordon and Parnell senior teams. He has for many years been prominent in Auckland musical circles.
