RICCARTON AVENUE.
Work Delayed for Tramway Board. The City Council is anxious to complete the ’ work on Riecarton Avenue, but according to the Works Committee's report received at last evening's meeting of the council, the Christchurch Tramway Board cannot resurface its tracks until early next year. The committee reported that a letter had rrcentlv been sent to the Tramway Board stating that the council had given a portion of Riecarton Avenue one coat of tar and was anxious to complete the work and asked if the board was prepared to carry out similar work on the portion of the road which it maintained. A reply had been received intimating that the present programme of work would prevent anything being done to Riecarton Avenue this year and that the work of surfacing the board’s tracks could not be put in hand until early in 1935.
