INQUEST HELD.
Death of Mr Hubert John Suckling. An inquest was held this afternoon into the death of Hubert John Suckling, as the result of injuries received in a motor accident at the intersection of Gloucester and Barbadoes Streets on June 26 last. Mr Suckling, when riding a bicycle north along Barbadoes Street, came into collision w'ith a motor van driven by Augustus Edward Keys, of 219, Papanui Road. The late Mr Suckling was a married man, 58 years of age. He was in business at 108, Manchester Street, and resided at 530, Barbadoes Street. Mr E. D. Mosley, Coroner, presided. Mr C. S. Thomas appeared the driver of the van, and Mr P. P. J. Amodeo for the relatives. Dr C. R. Stevenson, house surgeon at the Public Hospital, said that at 1.20 p.m. on June 2(j he examined Mr Suckling, who w'as admitted in a moribund condition. There was a contusion in the brain over the left temple. There were several fractured ribs on the left side, a penetrating wound on .the right groin and abrasions to both knees and legs. The pulse was imperceptible, respiration slow and shallow. He died fifteen minutes after admission. The cause of death was primarily shock following on rupture of the liver.
