LOSS ON YEAR.

Wellington Trotting Club’s Report. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 18. “ Although it was considered at the end of last session that the Dominion was emerging from the financial depression and that therefore the position of clubs would be improved during the present season, this desirable state of affairs has not yet come to pass so far as the Wellington Trotting Club is concerned,” states the president (Mr J. E. August) in his annual report. “ The year’s operations, after allowing for depreciation of £1164 2s 4d, resulted in an actual net loss of £1057 14s Bd, compared with £59 12s 8d last year, but it is satisfactory to be able to record that the club’s finances are still on the healthy side.” The report goes on to state that the club intends to keep stake moneys during the coming season at the highest level that finances will permit. The club is also satisfied that the single pool system of betting is the most popular and it will continue this mode next season. The club 1 s applied for two extra days next season and the stewards intends to use every effort to secure at least two extra permanent totalisator permits.
