First Legal Use of Lethal Process. TUCSON (Arizona), July 10. Lethal gas administered at the gaol at Florence ended in two minutes the lives of two Mexican youths who had killed an American prospector for five dollars. » It was the first legal double execution by means of gas in America. The youths spent the night with their parents and their fourteen brothers and gisters, beginning with feasting and ending with dirges and prayers.
