Sumner Relief Work.
Dear Sir, —Could you please tell me whether the “ wet day ” for relief workers has come into force for Sumner yet? If so. I think there is something wrong with the local council. To-day (Monday) has been wet enough to be declared a wet day, but we were kept on the job until 3.20, foity minutes before knock-off time. Wc could work only intermittently, and got a ducking before we could get to shelter. I thought Sumner would attend to its relief workers better when the citizens have so much done for them. Here are a few examples of the work carried out by relief workers: Cleaning blocked sewer pipes, on refuse cart and night soil cart. I worider what the world is coming to?—I am etc., J. H. FENTON.
