BRIGHT NEW BILL.

“ The Poor Rich ” and “ 42nd Street.” “ One Man's Journey ” and “ Friday* the 13th ” will be screened finally on Friday night at the Crystal Palace Theatre. ‘‘The Poor Rich” and “ 42nd Street" will comprise the bright new double bill at the Crystal Palace Theatre on Saturday. The troubles that have beset many wealthy American families as a result of the depression are used as the basis of some delightful comedy in “ The Poor Rich.” The film concerns the experiences of Albert Stuyvesant Spottiswood and Harriet Winthrop Spottiswood when they are forced to return penniless to their old family estate in Connecticut after y T ears of carefree travelling in Europe. A particularly strong cast includes Edward Everett Horton, Edna May Oliver, Thelma Todd, Leila Hyarns, Andy Devine, Grant Mitchell, John Miljan nr.d Una O’Connor.

42nd Street ” is in every sense a notable production. It combines a fascinating story of back-stage life with gorgeous ballets and a delightful musical score, which includes such catchy songs as “ You’re getting to Be a Habit With Me.” For this fine production an exceptionally strong cast was engaged, but Warner Baxter, Bebe Daniels and Ruby Keeler have most to do, and they give sterling performances. There is a finely-woven dramatic element running throughout the story, and a leavening of bright comedy as the play moves on to spectacles of dazzling brilliance, comparable with the best yet seen on the screen. Box plans at the D.I.C.
