CHARGE DISMISSED.
A charge of perjury against James Edward Smith, of Rhona Street. Linwood, was dismissed in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M. The police alleged that accused had sworn an affidavit to serving a summons on W. L. Pope personally, whereas he had served it on Pope’s wife. Accused, in a statement to a detective, said that he had never been instructed in the technical requirements of services and affidavits. The Magistrate said that he was satisfied a prima facie case had not been made out.
