In reply to a letter from the Christchurch Beautifying Association, the City Council has informed that body that the question of elimination of smoke from the destructor chimney will receive the serious consideration of the Works Committee, when the estimates for the current year are being prepared. A musical afternoon arranged by the Cathedral Women Workers in aid of St Saviour’s Orphanage, will be held at the Jellicoe Hall on Wednesday, August 1.
