GOES BERSERK.

BRADMAN HITS BOWLERS TO BOUNDARY. Only 25 Minutes to Make 50. AUSTRALIAN'S BRILLIANT DISPLAY AGAINST YORKSHIRE. United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received Julv 17, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 16. Bradman, goifig berserk, made 140 against Yorkshire, treating all the bowlers alike. He made his 100 in even time and took twenty-five minutes only to raise his second 50. At stumps Australia had lost seven wickets for 314. Yorkshire’s innings closed for 340. Yorkshire continued their first innings against the Australians in dull and sultry weather. The wicket was slightly truer than on Saturday. Grimmett in his first over bowled the left-hander, Smailes, with an offbreak. Sellers then lost Wood to a nicely-judged catch by Brown at deep square leg. Macaulay was helpless against Grimmett, but Wall was punished by both Sellers and Macaulay, who carried ths score towards the third century. Macaulay, gaining confidence, settled down and hit Grimmett for two fours in one over. He and Sellers also hit Fleetwood-Smith freely. Sellers, in fact, sparkled. He drove powerfully and gathered runs with square-cutting and pulling. The partnership brought up 300 runs in 360 minutes. Ebeling maintained his impressive usual length, though his direction was variable, but Fleetwood-Smith was erratic.

Sellers reached his century in 210 minutes, his highest score in first-class cricket. He was wildly applauded, as it was the first Yorkshire hundred against the Australians since 1909. Sellers five minutes later was bowled. He gave a chanceless display and hit eleven fours. The innings lasted 415 minutes. Australia Begin. Woodfull and Brown opened. Brown, after an aw’kward snick, was out for fourteen next ball, caught at first slip. One for 16. Bradman, when eight, gave Leyland a hot chance at second slip off Bowes, who also troubled Woodfull. Macaulay employed the leg trap, but Bradman was not worried and reached 50 in seventy-five minutes. Woodfull, however, was in poor form and a couple of times nearly played the ball on to his wicket. Bradman, who was in brilliant form, three times drove Verity to the boundary and raised 100 in ninety minutes. He then took fourteen from one of Macaulay’s overs, including a lofty straight sixer. Bradman treated all . the bowlers alike and reached a glorious hundred in even time. It included one sixer and fifteen fours. His second fifty took only twenty-five minutes. Bradman then went berserk and took fourteen from one of Leyland’s overs, including another straight sixer; and also fourteen from the next over, including three boundaries, raising 200 in 130 minutes. Then, in making a cross swipe at Leyland, he was bowled. He batted for 120 minutes and hit two sixers and twenty-two fours. It was a magnificent display.. Eighty out of the last ninety of his runs came from boundary strokes. Two for 205. Woodfull meanwhile had taken 145 minutes to reach 50. He then was caught at square leg from a bad stroke. M’Cabe and Darling continued vigorously until Bowes beat M’Cabe... Macaulay whipped one through sharply and dismissed Bromley. Five for 283.

Barnett played one on to his wicket. Darling was nearly caught at square leg after several risky shots. The innings so far had lasted 235 minutes. Bowes had taken four wickets for 89.
