The Hawke’s Bay meeting opened to-day in fine weather. The course was in good order. There was a good attendance. Results:— MAIDEN PLATE, Of CO sovs. (Weight 8.7.) Five furlongs. 1- —DE TROP 1 6-S—FLAMINGO 2 2- —HUKEMANU 3 All started. Won by a length. Time ~ coupled with Tyrone, Flamingo with Bold Bill, and Hukemani* with Bonny Quex. WHAKATU HURDLES HANDICAP, Of 70 sovs. One mile and a half. 2-3—CONSTANT SUN, 9.10 .... 1 G-S—EMOTION, 9.12 2 1-i—COUNT LENDROFF. 9.10 3 Scratched: Easterly. Won by a length. Time—2min 46 3-ssec. CORINTHIAN PLATE, Of 60 sovs. One mile and a quarter. SYLVAN DELL, 11.0 1 AUTUMN SUN, 10.13 2 MAHORA, 11.7 •> Scratched: Easterly, Kahunoke, Luna Lux.
