Miss Lorraine Sidey, Dunedin, is visiting Mrs R. W. Morrow, Helmore’s Road. Mrs A. W. Andrew, Cashmere Hills, has returned to London from visits to Scotland and Ireland. She will return to New Zealand by the Akarca, sailing in July. Miss Pamela Rawnsley. Innes Road who has been the guest of Miss Torn Rutherford, Onepunga, Amberley, wil 1 return home to-day, accompanied bv Miss Rutherford, who will stay with her for several days. Mrs M. E. R. Tripe, the Wellington artist, who has spent the last eighteen months in London with her younger son. Mr Anthony Tripe, will return to New Zealand by the Rangitane, which leaves London toward the end of this month. At the Orchestral Society’s Elgar Memorial Concert at the Radiant Hall last night Miss Nancy Bowden, contralto, was the soloist. Miss Bowden wore a simply-cut black pan-velvet frock, sleeveless, and with a grace f ul flared skirt. A long pearl necklace relieved the severe lines of the lrock. Miss E. A. Aitken, who has rendered loyal service to the Christchurch branch of the Overseas League during her three or four years as honorary sro ■ retary, has lately received a badge in appreciation of her services from t;:e headquarter's of the league in London.

Mackenzie Country, who been staving with Mrs Grant, Aigantighe. Timaru, has left for Christchurch. Miss Winnie Beckett, Waimate. who is the guest of Mrs d’Auvergne. Christchurch, will leave at the end of *he week for Rakaia to stav with Mrs A Henderson. Footballers in Christchurch \s ill learn with interest of the wedding, which took place on May 1 at All Saints’ Church, Chester, of Mr Gordon Innes, New Zealand representative footballer, and Miss Eleanor Maud Wright, both of Christchurch. Mr Innes is now playing centre three-quarter for the Wigan Rugby Football Club. His bride had arrived in England only three days prior to the wedding, by the Barrabool. Mr W. E. Merritt, well known both as a cricketer and footballer, was best man, and Airs A. J. Benzie, also of Christchurch, was matron of honour. The ceremony, for which the church was crowded with ! footballers, was performed by Canon j Thicknesse.
