MARIONETTE SHOW.
Puppets Play Big Part in “ I am Suzanne! ” “ Counsellor-at-Law ” will be shown finally to-morrow night at the Crystal Palace Theatre. There is £ strange fascinaii-n about the puppet show, and on the Lig scale seen in the splendid picture, “ I Am Suzanne!” which will open at the Crystal Palace Theatre on Saturdav. it offers scope for enterta.ament of unusual variety. Music, drama, romance, dancing, vaudeville and opera are found in this remarkable blend, and behind it all is the diminutive and talented Lilian Harvey The repertory of the picture includes mus'C from four operas and from as manv famous composers, and in the pupoet troupes are 800 marionette actors and actresses, sprightly and at times wistful little figures that appear as the playthings -of destiny. It is puppet pantomime of ever-changing colour, grave and gay. tragic and fantastic, yet always close to reality; it mirrors the emotions, and therein lies its art and inspiration. In this picture one is continually reminded of the intimate connection between the puppet and the soul that moves it. Net onlv this, but the scenes off-stage unfold a love story, while the puppets illuminate it and help it along. It is simple and touching, telling of the adventures of a young dancer, Suzaone (Lilian Harvey), who is persuaded to join a puppet show in which the mov ing spirit is a handsome young man (Gene Raymond). Lilian Harvev is supported by a company cf beautiful girls, and the film gives glimpses of the night life of Paris and of the intricate and interesting art of the puppeteer. Box plans at the D.I.C.
