Rinks Selected for Bowling Match. The following rinks have been selected to represent the Lyttelton Bowling Club against Linw’ood in the first round of the Carl Madsen Shield games, to be played on the Indoor Bowling Rinks, Tuam Street, Christchurch, on Monday next, June 18, at 7 p.m.: J. The Lyttelton Golf Club will commence the second round for the Miller Memorial Cup at Charteris Bay on Sunday. The second round of Miss Plimmer’s trophy will be played on Saturday afternoon. The second round for the Jackson Cups will be played at Diamond Harbour on Sunday. Personal.

News was received in Lyttelton yesterday that Mr A. E. (Harry) Spurgeon, for some years a chief steward in the inter-island service, was critically ill in Lewisham Hospital, Wellington. Mr Spurgeon was to have been chief steward on the Maori when she was recommissioned. Benefit Dance.

There was a poor attendance at the dance organised by the Lyttelton Club and held in the Club Hall last evening in aid of the Lyttelton Relief Funds. Music was provided by the Herdman-Fisk Orchestra, which gave its services free.
