CHILD SUFFOCATED.
Had Been Left Asleep in Pram. (Special to the “ Star.”) TEMUKA, June 13. An inquest was held at the Temuka Courthouse this morning, before Mr C. R. Orr Walker, Coroner, concerning the death of the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Hopkinson, who was found dead in a pram that morning. Dr A. S. M’lnnes said that the cause of death was suffocation and the Coroner returned a verdict in accord- | ance with the medical evidence, i The father said that his daughter j was four months and a half old. lie did not look to see how the child was before he left for work as he under- | stood she was asleep. Mrs Hopkinson said that she had looked at the baby several times that morning. The child was delicate and had been attended by a doctor and the Plunket nurse. After her husband left for work witness again looked at the baby and thought she was asleep. Later a neighbour was called and the baby was found dead.
