Results of S.P.C.A. Poster
Competition.
Although the number of entries in the poster competition conducted by the Junior League of the Canterbury Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was not as large as in the previous year, the judges state that the entries were of a higher standard.
They found it difficult to award the prizes. The first prize was won by Eunice M. Dorns, of Girls’ High School. Her poster bears the inscription “We defend ! the defenceless,” and shows two horses j straining at a plough. In the corner is the Junior League badge. Olga Cocks, j also of Girls’ High School won the second prize with a poster upholding the principles of the Junior League The third prize was won by L. Wilson, of Girls’ High School. This poster shows a farm scene. The judges said it was rather too small, but it showed good treatment. A special prize was won by Betty Barnett, of Rangi-Ru-ru. Her poster is done in shadow letters.
