The Rome correspondent of the “ Daily Telegraph ’’ says that the utmost secrecy is being maintained anent the momentous Mussolini-llitler meeting.
Berlin communiques giving minute details of the event are being carefully left out of Italian newspapers, whose editors have been forbidden to refer to the subject. Consequently very few Italians know that the meeting is taking place. Elaborate precautions have been taken to ensure privacy at the villa where the meeting is being held. A Vienna message says: “ On the eve of the Hitler-Mussolini meeting the Austrian Government has significantly submitted to Rome all the material which could prove that Germany has inspired the terrorist activities which are sweeping Austria. The Government does not demand Signor Mussolini’s assistance, buj stresses that the terrorists’ damage to Austrian economics strikes at the Rome Pact. Austria is willing to icstore friendship for Germany if Hitler guarantees Austrian independence.
