Y.M.C.A. LUNCHEON.
Local Members of Parliament, representatives of the various churches, and persons interested in peace movements, were present at the luncheon tendered to Dr F. W. Norwood, minister of the City Temple, London, by the president and directors of the Christchurch Y.M.C.A. this afternoon.
Mr D. E. Parton presided, and among the principal guests were the deputyMavor (Mr J. K. Archer), the Town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville), Mrs E. R. M’Combs, M.P., Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., the national president of the Y.M.C.A. (Mr J. L. Hay), Dean Julius, the Revs D. Gardner Miller, M. A. Rugby Pratt, and L. A. North, Mr W. H. Rose (Moderator of the Christchurch Presbytery), Mr E. Hitchcock (chairman of the international committee, Christchurch Rotary Club), Mr C. R. N. Mackie (secretary of the National Peace Council) and Mr L. M. Isitt. Dr Norwood, who was given a most enthusiastic reception, spoke on the subject, “On the Trail of a Better World.”
A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Hitchcock.
