LATE CORRESPONDENCE.

A WINTER APPEAL. Dear Sir, —Now that the winter is fairly upon us, we are feeling the need of further assistance in connection with the Salvation Army Men’s Home at Addington. During the past winters the generous people of Christchurch have come to our assistance nobly, for which we are deeply grateful, but unfortunately I am again compelled to solicit assistance and am launching our winter fund appeal in the hope that the same generous response will be made as in previous years. We would earnestly invite inspection of the home by the many friends who have come to our assistance in times past; in fact, anyone who would be interested enough to see the work which we are doing, as we are confident that a closer knowledge of our operations would result in increased interest. During the past three months we have supplied 26,998 meals and 9162 beds, besides clothing and medicine, etc. So you would readily understand our need. Contributions may be sent to Major Dry, 62, Poulson Street, Addington, or, if more convenient, left with Mr Trenberth. Paramount Tailoring Co., Manchester Street, opposite the City Council Chambers, who has kindly consented to act as a city receiving depot for us. —I am. etc.. GEORGE F. C. DRV, Major.
