EMPIRE FRUIT PARLEY.

Big Conference Opened in

London.

United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.

(Received June 12, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 11

At the opening of the conference of Empire Fruit Producers, Mr Edward Dayson pointed out that only 41 per cent of the fruit Britain imported came from Empire countries. Besides an increase in their share in the British market, the conference would discuss every aspect of marketing. The discussion would be limited to apples and pears.

Mr G. W. Brown (Australia) said that he was not in favour of quantitative restriction, which was a policy of despair. He advocated qualitative restriction of varieties and grades to enable the most suitable fruit to be placed on the market at the right time. Mr J. A. Campbell (New Zealand) supported him.
