Conditions for Pennant Competition. MEETING OF CENTRE. The Christchurch Bowling Centre met last evening, the president (Mr F. L>. Muirson) in the chair. There was a large attendance of delegates, fMr C. F. Dobbs, delegate to the Beckenham Club, gave notice of motion for the annual meeting as follows: That the pennant competitions be played under the same conditions as last year with the following additional provisions:—(l) That each club be required to enter at least 75 per cent of its playing strength; (2) That the competition be played on each Saturday, and that it shall finish not later than December 31.” The secretary of the New Zealand Association advised that only seven nominations had been received for the South island non-official members of the council. They were Messrs W. A. Dee (Nelson), L. B. Evans and H. B. Oakey (Christchurch), F. B. Hawkey (South Canterbury), W. O’Connor and E. T. G. Falconer (Dunedin) and J. H. Louden (Invercargill). They would be duly elected at a meeting of the executive Nine nominations had been received for the non-official members for the North Island, and a ballot would be held. Challenging' of Bowls. Oakey) stated that as a member of the New Zealand Association he had given notice of motion as follows for the annual meeting to be held in Auckland on July 11:—"That rule 92, page IS, of the Uws of the Game of the New Zealand Bowling Association be amended to read as follows: —Challenging Bowls—ln any tournaments or competitions held by the association, by a centre, or a club, any player, official, executive officer, or member of council may challenge a bowl or bowls being played, on the ground that such bowl or bowls does not comply with the Laws of the Game, provided, however, that in association or centre tournaments or competitions, the umpire may refuse to accept such challenge if he. is satisfied that it is frivolous.” Benselite Bowls. Correspondence was read from the Dunedin Centre regarding the use of Henselite bowls and restrictions which it proposed should be adopted. It was decided to leave the question to be dealt with by the New Zealand Association. On the motion of Mr Finnegan, seconded by Mr H. Ranger, it was decided that the Colts Shield be known as the "Robinson Junior Shield.”
