STREET APPEAL.
Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A.
Arrangements
The street appeal to be held on July 6 in aid of the combined funds of the' Y.M.C.A. and the Y.W.C.A. was furthered at a meeting of supporters of the two associations in the City Council Chamber yesterday afternoon. The Deputy-Mayor (the Rev J. K. Archer) presided in the absence of the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.). Mrs M. M'Leod and Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson urged the necessity of supporting the Y.W.C.A. in its work for girls. Messrs D. E. Par ton and A. J. M’ Eldo wnev put forward the claims of the Y.M.C.A. to support.
The meeting formed itself into a General Committee, with Mr W. F. Blackwell chairman of the executive, Mr L. # T. K. Allison as organiser of the appeal, Mr T. M. Charters as treasurer, and Mr G. F. Allen as chairman of the Attractions and Publicity Committee.
An offer to man eighteen corners during the day was made by representatives of various organisations..
