Hornby-Islington Branch Meeting.

A special meeting in connection with the Kaiito.no appeal was held by members of the Hornby branch of the Plunket Society in the Orange Hall en Friday. Present: Alesdames J. Gunderson (In the chair), G. Cox. J. Smalley, Robson, Ala neon, Hornby. Hunter, J. Marsden, J. Rowe, Goss and C. Woodham (secretary). Airs F. Scott was also present on behalf of the Women’s Institute. Final arrangements were made for the bring and buy fete to be held on June 23 In the Parish Hall. It was decided to have produce, variety and cake stalls, also to canvass the residents of the district for gifts. The total proceeds will be devoted to the Karitane funds. Women’s Institute. There was a large attendance of members of the Hornby Women’s Institute at the monthly meeting held in the Parish Hall, Hornby. The president. Mrs C. Rugg, was in the chair. The home competition for the best pair oj moccasins resulted:—Mrs D. Mackie i. Mrs A. Stevenson 2, Airs J. Rowe 3. The Hornby branch of the Plunket Society wrote soliciting the support of the institute members at a bring and buy afternoon in aid of the Karitane Hospital, and it was decided to help. An invitation from the Ladbrooks In stitute to its second anniversary eele bration was accepted. A dainty after noon tea was served by the hostesses. Mesdames F. Scott, A. Robinson and Alackie, sen. Dental Clinic Meeting.

Mr F. A. Al’Tefgue presided over the quarterly meeting of the Hornby dentet clinic held in the Hornby School. Mem hers present were: Messrs F» A Al’Teigue. IT. R. Parker. L.. A. Horman (Hornby), Bailey and Howarth (Springston). Stuart i Lincoln). Chapman find Kenst (Springston South), Johnston and Taylor (Templeton), Stone (Ladbrooks) Mr F. A. Al’TeigUe was elected chairman and Air 1.. A. Horman was elected secretary-. The new delegates from the associated schools were welcomed by the chairman. The year’s work was r a viewed, the principal step towards pro gress being the installation of an ele~ trie drill which was giving every satisfaction to the nurse. The nurse’s reports were read. Templeton School Committee. At the monthly meeting of the Templeton School Committee there, were present: Messrs R. .Johnston (in the chair), R. Mackie (secretary). ,T. v\ Wright, L. Dinniss and W. Taylor. Aliss Bell Wood (assistant mistress) tendd-ed her resignation, owing to her appointment to the Sydenham School. The secretary was instructed to convey to Aliss Bell Wood the committee’s appreciation of her work during the iafet .six and a half years. The chairman reported that the tender of Air S. East, of Linwood, for firewood, had been accepted. Two new footballs had been purchased for the boys.’ A discussion took place as to the best means of raising money’ for the prize, picnic and dental clinic fund, and it was decided to leave the matter over till the next meeting.
