NEW ONE-MAN TRAMS.
Work to Start in About a Month.
Work on the conversion of six oneman cars for the Riccarton line will start in about a month's time. The general manager of the Christchurch Tramways (Mr Frank Thompson) said to-day that it would take about that time to put through the loan to be raised for the purpose.
Mr Thompson added that the work would fit in rather well, as it would follow body construction of four trolley buses at present being carried out in the board’s workshops. “ This will provide continuity of employment for a number of men for whom it might otherwise be difficult to find something to do,” added Mr Thompson.
