BOOT REPAIR DEPOT.
Reply to Criticism in Wellington. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 22. The “ Smith Family ” authorities, replying to criticism of the work at its boot repair depot, states that the amount of work done is not such as to cause hardship to the trade. “It has been admitted by experts qualified to judge that the * Smith Family ’ repair depot is a model of efficiency,” says the statement. “ The public should understand that the * Smith Family ’ opened up the boot depot on its x own initiative and carried it on at a cost of from £6O to £7O a month for nearly twenty-one months until the Unemployment Board came to its assistance to help to carry on the work.”
