“NO USE JOY-RIDING.”

Kingsford Smith Replies to Rumours. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. May C Surprise was expressed bv Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith that reports had been circulated stating that the Codock aeroplane was to leave New South Wales yesterday for a flight to New Zealand. “It is no use joy-riding across the Tasman in winter,” he said. “ The machine has been thoroughly tested and found satisfactory in every wav, but it will not be brought to New Zealand until Dominion Airways are ready to take it into service. We cannot afford to send the machine across on a * spec.’ The last tests were made only two days before I left.” Sir Charles expressed the opinion that the time was fast approaching when there would be a trans-Tasman passenger and mail air service, but it would be necessary to organise a service throughout New Zealand first so that mails could be given rapid distribution when they arrived in the Dominion.
