TORNADO DAMAGE.

Loss of Life and PropertyHeavy in India. CALCUTTA. May 5. Further details have reached here of the appalling havoc done by the tornado which devastated the Sulhet district of Assam on April 30. More than two hundred persons are reported dead, several hundreds missing and five hundred injured. Score 3 of villages have been destroyed and thousands of their inhabitants are homeless. It is feared that the death roll will be much heavier in the remote districts, as scores of human bodies as well as those of animals are floating daily down the river Surma, where many fishing fleets and ferry boats were overwhelmed.
