JEWISH PERSECUTION.

Bitter Attacks Continue in Germany. LONDON, April 27. Although an attempt to launch a spring offensive against the Jews in commemoration of last year’s boycott has been officially disclaimed, it was vigorously prosecuted in some parts of Germany. Many Bavarian towns were placarded, prohibiting Jews from entering shops. Nuremberg displayed notices, * Jews are our ruin. Do not buy from them.” The official policy is to exclude Jews from all walks of life, despite the lesson of history that Jews cannot be obliterated or permanently restricted n ghettos. Many Jewish doctors contrive at private practice, and some lawyers are carrying on in circumstances which would have daunted less courageous and tenacious men, while economic necessity has compelled the Government to allow the Jews to continue to trade. “ The persecution of the Jews continues, sometimes culminating in pogroms,” says the ** Manchester Guardian’s ” special correspondent. “ The Brown Shirts are continually reminded that the Jews must be treated as pariahs. The responsibility for the persecution thus rests with the Nazi leaders, especially the Reichs Chancellor (Herr Hitler). “ The German theatre, formerly the best in Europe, has sunk to the worst position because of the proscription of Jewish actors and producers. Nazis are prohibited from visiting certain theatres. Others are only filled because Storm Troopers were encouraged to go en masse at reduced rates.”
