ATHLETICS.

Technical Club Trophies Presented. The presentation of trophies awarded by the Christchurch Technical College Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was held at the college on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance of club members and representatives from other athletic clubs. The evening was pleasantly spent with dancing and items rendered by Misses D. Sanders, Messrs J. Kidson, W. Wing, A. A. Keen and R, Foster. Miss C. Robinson, H. O. H. Savage and L. Simpson supplied the music. Mr K. Todd represented the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Centre. Mr H. A. Kirby, president of the club, when making the presentation of the trophies, congratulated ihe club upon its success, and stated that, although the season was now- ended applications for membership of the club were still coming forward. He also congratulated Miss K. Callinan on being the first club member to win a national track cham*pionship and Mr G. R. Giles on winning two national cycle track championships, and expressed the hope that Mr Giles might yet represent his country at the British Empire Games. The trophies were presented as follows:—Girls Sports Day Association Cup, won by lady members; Angus Kennedy Memorial Cup for inter-club relav, won by the following team:—Misses T. Anderson. B. Stewart, E. Munro and Mr G. Tt. Broadhurst; Club Champion Cup, L. C. Woodward; Lady Champion Cup, Miss K. Callinnn: Field Cup, H. W. Wilkins; runner-up lady champion. Miss I. Anderson; Aggregate Prints Cup club U, ieetlng ' R ’ U. C. Woodward; Aggregate Points Cup (women), Miss E. MunrO; cycle champion. G. R. Giles; Sprints Cup, G. D. Broadhurst; Woodward Cup most points day school member in A and B grade. R. de la Cour; Woodward Cup runner-up most points dav school member in A and B grade, C. R. Bradwell. Standards certificates were also pdesented to the following members:— 100yds women, Miss K. Callinan; 120vds hurdles, L. C. Woodward; high jump, R. G. Stead- hop. step and jump, H. W. Wilkins; discus throw and javelin throw. F. T. J. French; one mile C H Matthews. ’
