“CRADLE SONG.”

Drama of Extraordinary Beauty and Charm. The Ben Travers comedy, ‘‘A Cuckoo in the Nest,” will conclude its successful season at the Tivoli Theatre tonight. “ Cradle Song,” starring the beautiful German actress, Dorothea Wieck, which will open at the Tivoli Theatre to-morrow, is a beautiful and unusual picture. Possibly the most remarkable thing about it is the successful development cf an essentially human story of mother love within the walls of a convent, whilst at the same time respecting the nuns’ vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, and maintainng an atmosphere of reverence in a remarkable degree. The film is one of extraordinary charm, and grasps that elusive quality which can only be described as the colour and atmosphere of the convent. It presents emotional scenes of purity and self-abnegation. Relief from the emotional is provided cleverly and without a false or jarring note, and the climax is superb. “ Cradle Song ” is more than a religious picture. It is a story of sacrifice of motherhood in totally unusual surroundings, and justifies a morally whoieseme view of life. It holds a particularly strong appeal for womenfolk, and its screening should be looked forward to with more than usual interest. Box plans at the D.I.C. •*
