MUSICAL SOCIETY.

Christchurch music-lovers will be able to hear the enduring monument to the genius of Felix Mendelssohn, “ Elijah,” on Tuesday, April 24, when it will be given by the Royal Christchurch Musical Society. Performances of the great religious opera at Home never fail to attract crowded audiences, for it holds appeal for young and old. With the latter it awakens memories and renews former thrills as the dramatic story of the prophet of Gilead is unfolded voth clearness, spirit and symmetry. For the young it will be looked upon as an educational opportunity. The performance will be given at the Civic Theatre, and the soloists will be Mrs D. A. Lawson, Miss Alice Vinsen, Mr Charles Clarkson and Mr Robert Sampson. Mr W. H. Dixon will be the conductor. Box plans open at the D.I.C. to-mor-row.
