Tourist Traffic.

Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, April 17. (CORRESPONDENCE from the Chamber of Commerce with respect to the efforts of a local committee to obtain a resumption of the tyelbourne-South Island shipping service was read at a meeting of the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association to-day. The chairman (Mr James Hogg) said that manufacturers had appreciated the difficulty of the Union Steam Ship Company in respect of this service during late years. There was, however, a movement to foster tourist traffic by that route and there was no doubt that'the service would be obtained if the intentions of the Minister of Employment to have the road made to Milford Sound were fulfilled. It was decided to support the efforts of the committee. The chairman added that manufacturers, as a rule, obtained a good service to Australia and the question was now one of fostering tourist traffic.
