OPERATIC SOCIETY.
A hearty welcome will be extended by Christchurch playgoers to the brilliant comic opera. “ Les Cloches de Corneville,” to be staged by members of the Christchurch Operatic Society at St James Theatre from Saturday, April 2S. to Saturday, May 5. “ Les Cloches " has been described as one of the greatest _ comic operas ever written, and Major Lampon (the producer) finds the cast well able to bring out the requirements of the playwright. Rehearsals are proceeding most satisfactorily, and the general opinion seems to be that this will be the finest performance in the long history of the society. Intending patrons are advised that the box plans will not be opened until next Tuesday.
