—————o Damages Awarded in Collision Case. Claims totalling £lB9 8s 5d were made by three Chinese against G. Exton, a Riccarton blacksmith, in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday as the result of a collision on the Main South Road near Temuka last June. The plaintiffs. F. Young, fruiterer, of Christchurch, T. Low, grocer, of Wellington, and Loo Shak. gardener, of Christchurch, were awarded judgment for £149 8s 5d and costs by the Magistrate, who said he was satisfied the accident was due to the negligence of Exton. Defendant counter-claimed for £136 Is, on which he was not successful. Mr 11. A. Young, S.M., was on the Bench. After giving judgment for the plaintiffs the Magistrate said that Young and Shak would be given the full amounts claimed. £9B 8s lid and £5 respectively, while Low’s claim would be reduced from £B6 19s 6d to £45 19s 6d. a decrease of £4O in personal damages.
