BASKETBALL NOTES.

By

“GOALIE."

The Canterbury Basketball Association began its new season last Saturday. Miss Mabel Gray, the new president, was introduced to the girls by Mrs Brown. Miss Gray reminded the girls that full .registered uniforms, including black stockings, must be worn next Saturday, when the competition games will begin. She unshed the girls a most successful season and the best of luck to all teams. Many new clubs have entered in all grades, and there are now about 100 teams in the competition. This means about I*oo girls playing at Hagley Park every Saturday. In the A grade. Cathedral have entered a team. They have I. and T. Poole and V. Flood playing for them, and should do well. Waiata have gone into the A grade from senior B, and Ngaio, winners of the senior B competition, automatically go up a grade. Referees Reeded. More referees are badly needed, and Mrs Cairney would be glad to receive any offers. As Saturday was only grading day, some of the teams will perhaps find themselves in different sections or grades next week. Last week’s grading was done on last year’s form. There is a court out at Mrs Brown's which may be booked on application to the secretary (Mrs J. D. Cairney). New teams in A grade: Cathedral. Xgaio, Waiata, A.B.C. A, Beckenham B, Merivale A.
