ASHBURTON STOCK SALE.

(Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, April 17. There was little/ it any, alteration in prices for fat sheep at the Ashburton saleyards to-day. The sale was held in line, warm weather and there was a good average yaiding of both fat and store sheep and a good yarding of fat lambs. Buyers were keen for the primest lots. At the morning part of the sale A. C. Cameron' (Pendarves) topped the fat ewes sales with 17s 9d for eight, and he received 17s Id for seven and 16s 7d for seven. J. Smith (Elgin) got 17s Id for seven and 16s lOd for six, while F. Frampton (Wakanui) received 17s 3d for ten. Other prime ewes brought from 16s 4d to 15s lOd; medium weights ranged from 15s 4d to 14s 10d; and lighter ewes ranged from 14s 4d to Its 7d. In wethers, E. Vigers (Elgin) got 23s 3d for one and J. Smith 23s Id for one; while A. J. Nicoll (Ashburton) received 21s 7d for five and 19s lOd for two. Another pen of twelve brought 16s 4d. Some nice lambs were offered on account of Rankin Bros. (Pendarves), who received 22s 7d for two lots of five. R. A. Jackson (Seifield) got 21s 4d for nine and E. Vigers (Elgin) 21s lOd for three. Other lambs sold at 19s 7d. W. H. King (Winchmore) was the most successful vendor of fat cattle. He received £4 7s 6d for a cow and £3 2s 6d for a heifer. Other sales of fat stock were:—Cow £3 2s 6d, vealer £1 15 s. three fat and forward steers £2 12s 6d each.
