MEASLES EPIDEMIC.

Two Hundred New Brighton Pupils Absent. When the roll was called this morning at the New Brighton School, it was found that two hundred pupils were absent on account of having contracted measles or being contacts. The authorities at the school got in touch with the Canterbury Education Board, and it was agreed that the school would attempt to carry on until the term holidays commence on May 4. The epidemic appears to have more or less run its course in city schools, but several suburban institutions report steadily decreasing attendances. The Seadown School, near Tern uka, has found it necessary to close for a fortnight.
