Dear Sir, -I wonder if any of your readers could enlighten me as to the use of that email steel conical-shaped hut, that has a davit-shaped arrangement protruding from the roof, and is situated on a >-mall promontory of land at the foot of the GodIcy Lighthouse. My friend and I scrambled down a perilous path to it. but could not make head nor tail of it. Below the struc. ture there is a well, hewn out of solid stone, about thirty feet deep and about sft by sft square, and on looking down we saw a big disused weight. Whatever the place was designed for, it is some years since it was in use. With regard to the whistling buoy, or I should say the moaning btaoy. i* the device that emits the noise dependen* on the action of the sea, or is it controlled electrically from the shore?
