SPEEDWAY CRASHES.

Drivers Have Miraculous Escapes. MAN HURLED FROM CAR. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 15. Two spectacular crashes at high speed occurred at Henning’s speedway at Mangere on Saturday afternoon, but in neither case was anybody hurt seriously. The cars concerned were a Bfooklands Riley, driven by R. A. Dexter jun, and a Miller, driven by G. Mathieson, with R. Webb as passenger. The Riley was damaged extensively, but the Miller escaped with two buckled wheels. The crash in which the Riley was involved was more serious, Mr Dexter being flung bodily from his little car after it had struck a bank at over seventy miles an hour. Mr Dexter, who escaped unhurt after a similar crash last 2year, rolled over several times and then, to the amazement of the crowd, stood and surveyed the damage. He suffered minor cuts and abrasions to his face, arms and body. When the Riley struck the bank, the door flew open, and Mr Dexter was thrown headlong. He fell clear and landed on a grass patch. His goggles saved his eyes.
