Mr and Mrs J. W. Fair, Timaru, will arrive in Christchurch to-day and will stay at Warwick House. Mrs Wilfrid Howell and Miss Sheila Howell, Cave, are guests at Warwick House. Mrs Simmers, Timaru, is the guest of Mrs A. P. Bruce, Ivinkora, Seafield. Mrs Jos. Armstrong, sen., Bay view, Akaroa, is visiting relatives at Foxton. Lady Sidey, Dunedin, and Mrs H. T. J. Thacker, Bealey Avenue, are spending a week’s holiday at Hanmer Springs. Mrs D. H. Howell, who has been staying with her father, Mr George Rhodes, Beverley, Fendalton, will return to Cave to-day. Lady Angela St Clair-Erskine, who has been visiting New Zealand, returned to England by the Rangitane, which left Wellington on Saturday. Mr and Mrs A. L. Waddell, New Plymouth, who have been staying in Christchurch, have left for Dunedin, where Mrs Waddell will take part in the golf tournament. Mr and Mrs C. J. Cox, Te Ono. Gloucester Street, have celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage, which took place at Trinity Congregational Church on April 15, 1884. Guests at Warwick House include Mrs Hamilton (Ashwick Station, Fairlie), Mrs Pringle, Miss Davis (Nelson), Mr and Mrs Tyndall Harman, Mrs Hobson and Miss Trolove.

Miss Joan Bedford, Darfield, has returned home from a visit to Timaru. Mrs G. E. Royds, Fendalton, is visiting Mrs 11. W. Royds, Invercargill. Miss Colyer, Christchurch, is visiting Timaru. Miss Willis, Park Lane, Timaru, who has been visiting Christchurch, has returned home. Mr and Mrs H. Kirker, Christchurch, are guests at the Club Hotel, Blenheim. Mrs R. J. Cunningham is visiting her mother, Mrs Gowing, Chester Street West. Miss June Wright, Christchurch, arrived yesterday to stay with Miss Marion Hay, W'ai-iti Road, Timaru. Mr and Mrs Walter Baxter and Miss Yvonne Baxter, Bristol Street, will sail early in June for England, where they intend to spend a long holiday. They will leave by the Avelona Star, which will sail from Auckland. Mrs Arthur Cook, Warwick House, will leave Christchurch this evening for Wellington, where she will join the Maunganui sailing to-morrow for San Francisco. Mrs Cook will visit her brother in Mexico City, and expects to return to Christchurch in July. Miss B. E. Carnachan, President of the National Council of Women, Miss C. J. Flatt, secretary, and Mrs M’Nair, treasurer, all of Auckland, will arrive in Christchurch to-morrow morning and will stay at The Lodge, Hereford Street, during th e conference of the council, which will open on Wednesday morning. •
