BATTLE OF DESIGN.

London to Melbourne Air Race.

United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received April 16, 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, April 15. The “Daily Express” says that the London-Melbourne air race has resolved itself into a struggle of aircraftVnaking supremacy between Britain and the United States. Opinion is divided as to which is the best policy. To win, some makers believe in tremendously fast machines with comparatively small petrol range; others rely on slower and longer-duration machines. The former will be forced to ' ' ere to a regular route and land at inlc ediate aerodromes for pertol and oil. The long-range machines will save hundreds of miles by flying a direct course between the compulsory stopping places.
