OBITUARY.

Mr W. H. Henning. One of the oldest residents of Akaroa, Mr W. H. Henning, died early this morning, in his nintieth yea t. His death makes the third this week of well known old identitiese of the district. The late Mr Henning arrived in New Zealand in the early seventies. He was the son of a Dorsetshire clergyman, and joined the navy at an early age. Shortly after his arrival in New Zealand Mr Henning was employed in the Lands Department, Christchurch. He came to Akaroa in the late eighties, and he has resided there ever since. Mr Henning married a daughter of the late Mr Nalder, who was a solicitor in Akaroa. He leaves a widow and four sons, Ralph, Basil, and Jeoffrey of Akaroa and Claude of Auckland.
