APPEAL UPHELD.

Tram way man Who Lost His Position. TWO OTHERS DISMISSED. The appeal against dismissal made by George Francis Owens, a tramway motorman, before the Tramway Appeal Board yesterday, was upheld and he was reinstated in the employ of the board as from yesterday with the position of assistant-conductor at the bottom of the seniority list. Alan John Miles : Cadman, another motorman, and Arnold Cecil Potter, a conductor, also appealed against dismissal, but their appeals were dismissed by the board. The board, which retired for nearly two hours, recommended that the rule with respect to those low on the quarterly list being warned that the position was unsatisfactory and must !be improved should strictly be complied with and that in each case the record advice note should contain the “weight” number. An appeal from another man who I had been dismissed was withdrawn, it | being stated that he had obtained another offer of employment that day, and had accepted it. The Appeal Board consisted of Messrs 11. A. Young, S.M. (chairman), W. Hayward, representing the Tramway Board, and J. Webb, representing the Christchurch Tramwaymen’s Union. Mr Tracy appeared for the appellants, and Mr Hutchison for the Tramway Board.
