Training College Principal to go Abroad. WILL RECEIVE HALF PAY. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 11. Eight months’ leave on half pay from May 1 has been granted to Mr D. M. Rae, principal of the Auckland Training College, by the Education Department, to enable him to take advantage of the offer of a travelling scholarship of 2000 dollars by the Carnegie Corporation, to study educational methods in the United States and Great Britain. Mr Rae will leave by the Aorangi for Vancouver on May 1. He will spend about six weeks in the United States, and will then go to England and later tp the Continent. He will return to Auckland at the end of the year. His earlier application for leave on full salary was declined, the department stating that leave could ’■‘e taken without salary. Pending the re-opening in 1935 of the Auckland Training College, Mr Rae was allotted inspectorial duties in the Auckland education district.
