BILLIARDS.
World Title May Come to New Zealand. M'CONACHY HOPEFUL. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. April 11. “ There is enough fighting spirit left in me to make me feel that the world billiards championship will eventually be brought through me to New Zealand,” said Clark M’Conachy, who will leave for Australia to-morrow. “ There is only one thing that can stop me and that is bad health. One of my troubles has been that my health has not been good at times and no man can play billiards if his health is not good. I have never been in better physical condition.” Of the contenders for the championship, M’Conachy said there was no doubt whatsoever about his meeting Lindrum for the title. The contest is to take place under the auspices of the Australian Billiards Association (which is affiliated with the British association). “It seems for the present, at any rate,” he remarked, “ that the British association has come round to Lindrum’s way of thinking. Holding the world championship in Australia practically amounts to an admission that Lindrum is quite justified in the stand he took.”
